The Easiest way to show you around the middle of Letchworth is to work our way around the Town Square looking at each road in turn, then returning to this page using the Back button on your browser.

You can see the Town Square from the ends of each of these roads, The longest of which, Pixmore Way leads to the direct route to the A1( M ) road link to London and the North.

 Gernon Road

 Pixmore Way

 Meadow Way

 South View

Each of these roads crosses or has a junction with

Lytton Avenue

West View which leads to Broadwater Lane and housing developed between 1915 and 1925 on the Western Edge of Letchworth, is the only exit leading towards the West of the Square.

Continue down Broadway ( the central axis ) to Sollershot Circus claims to be the first roundabout. At the time of its first use there was no rule about which way you should go round.

The roads that meet at roundabout are

Sollershots East and Sollershotts West   there are many large original houses along here but they are almost impossible to photograph well due to the extensive hedgerows and trees

Spring Road going Northwards to the railway line and Southwards to Baldock Road.

And the final section of Broadway leading to Hitchin Road to the left and Baldock Road to the right but we will be coming back here at the end of the tour

Continue the tour by going back to the Town Square and North into  Broadwalk
